Dubshed

Dubshed

This past weekend saw us travelling to Northern Ireland, where we were attending Dubshed. It was our first time there, and it did not disappoint.

We set off on Thursday for the long drive up to Stranraer before catching a ferry early the next morning to Belfast. The trip was not without incident though - our drone decided to develop a mind of its own whilst capturing some of the stunning Scottish scenery and needed some convincing to land again, before we were then treated to a lovely evening with the DVSA, who pulled us over at a checkpoint and kept us there for an extended period of time. We didn’t reach our hotel until near midnight, where we caught a few hours of sleep before getting up early for the ferry on Friday morning. We spotted a few cars also on their way to Dubshed, and after a smooth crossing, we found ourselves in Belfast.

We were pleasantly surprised at the grounds at the show, which is situated on a disused airfield-turned-prison-turned-showground, making for a very unique space. With time to spare, we visited the Titanic Museum and Botanical Gardens for quick photoshoots with some products.

With Friday setup complete, we returned to our accommodation for a bright and early start for the first day of the two-day event. Dubshed kicked off with a very busy Saturday, where we had Drift Games’ stunning S15 on display at our stand in the main hall. There were plenty of fantastic show cars to admire and we were full of action on the stand, with our RC car gaining a lot of attention as it drove around the venue with free sweets on hand for people to grab. We had plenty of enquiries and spoke to many friendly people.

That evening at the accommodation we were witness to the “Pride of Ballymacash Band Parade” which was occurring on our street. It went on to almost midnight, and certainly was unexpected!

Sunday was another great day at Dubshed, full of people, cool cars, BMXs, laser tag, drift taxis and more. We have a very enjoyable experience and before long it was time to pack down and head home. After another smooth ferry crossing and a 5 hour trip home, we were back at HQ in West Yorkshire - where preparations have already begun for more upcoming shows and events - Japfest this weekend at Silverstone alongside Fiesta Juniors at Snetterton, and Japfest Ireland the following weekend. Stay tuned!
